JPG Series. Shooting JPG only from 08/29-09/11 Using NIkon’s ADL lighting. I hope I can make it look good.
“ Where I’m going, you can’t follow. What I’ve got to do, you can’t be any part of. Ilsa, I’m no good at being noble, but it doesn’t take much to see that the problems of three little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you’ll understand that.” – Rick Blane
No it is not vanity or narcism, I decided to do a self portrait for the mid point of my 365 project, and step it up a notch and make it a composite.
So technically this is not a picture of the day but it will be my temp since I am unplugging from today at 10pm till Sept 11. I will still shoot the pictures but I will not post them till then. I am going on a trip, I am going far and the expectation is that when I come back, I will have symbolically pressed the reset button on perspective in life.
Every so often I lose focus, I lose a sense of where I come from and where I am going. I find that vacations, leaving the island, helps me see myself in a new light and helps me remind me of who I am in a cosmic level. Also going on vacation is a big deal. It borderlines feeling good and bad. I feel bad, because it is always expensive and I was raised under the idea that one should be thrifty with money. Vacations are an unnecessary way to spend money. On the other hand, they are so enriching that I find myself ignoring the past statement and focusing on the education. They give me a sense of wonder and child like joy.
Nevertheless, when I go in these long trips, I find myself contemplating a lot. I usually wrap all lose ends in my life. My father who is a bit of a cynic will always say “Make sure you don’t owe anyone anything just in case you die”. hahaaha I always laugh but always fallow his advice.
While I am gone, please influence the world one person at a time. Be nice!!!
PS. I shot this with a sb600 flash with a diffusor umbrella and stand. 800 ISO 125 and F22I wanted a picture that looked like natural lighting something that did not have every single person perfectly exposed but rather a global exposure. The problem I ran into was that my batteries were dying and at the end a few images where not expose correctly. Also I had it in auto focus which was a mistake since you want all the pictures focused to the same spot.

I was at a bike store getting brakes for my friend’s bike and even though everyone takes this picture I wanted to try a new way of treating the image. High contrast and exposure. I like the rhythms of the straight lines versus the curves of the tire.

I just dropped my brand new camera from about 4 feet. It has no physical damage, it is built like a rock. I am about to spent he next hour testing it and I found nothing wrong with it. Thank God replacing this would cost to much.
I took this picture simply because of the play in colors I love the warm to cool. I really says nothing other than that

We are suppose to get a storm this weekend. A hurricane to be exact, her name? Irene!!!
I was walking in Battery Park and then I saw a sea of people in yellow shirts meditating and I told myself to bad it is not yellow week. The I realized, wait this is not a bad thing look for the one person who is not wearing yellow, look for red.
Oh, wait there is something I should tell you. Fulun has been outlawed in China and people have been tortured and killed for practicing it.

NYC
Day 7 Red SeriesTom decided we should have an RGB Series so this week we are starting with red.
Today is the last day of red I did not get a dress nor an old car? Okay I did shoot a red old car on Friday, but I just picked something else so I am missing a red dress. Anyone here in NYC would like to do wear one for a future POD? I will buy you dinner It was raining all last night but it was no worse than a tropical storm (we are suppose to have a hurricane) and to tell you the truth, I been in many of storms worse than this one. This week I was thinking a lot of “Schindler List”. I sat down to see it on Tuesday and it turns out I don’t own it. So I ended up seeing something else. That being said I though of this color project more as an accessory and not a treatment, only because one of the many great things of Schindler List was the red coat. It mad me sad. It made me pay attention. The colors people wear are what make them express who they are or what they want to show the world.
In the philosophy of color, red is known as a symbol of life and vitality.
Interesting……

Day 6 Red Series
Tom decided we should have an RGB Series so this week we are starting with red.
I did all the color tone in post. I feel like the only real success in getting everything to be red was the first picture.
Today we are waiting for a storm and I went out to take some pictures and it seemed like everyone was unfazed. People were out with their kids and dogs at the park.
I hope it is not as bad as the news says. It seem like they are exaggerating?

NYC
Day 4 Red Series
Tom decided we should have an RGB Series so this week we are starting with red.
Today I got a D7000 and that means that I no longer will shoot with my d5000 and hopefully this girl will buy that camera from me
I have to say in many ways it was an impulse buy. After Sunday’s shoot I found myself thinking I had outgrown my current camera and needed a bit more.
There are a lot of cool features that this camera has, one is commander mode for my flash which I was not able to figure out before this picture.
But I guess it became a blessing because I like the monotone feel of this picture. The white balance seems a bit off but it just makes her beautiful skin pop.
Thanks for all the help Clarine, have fun in Europe.
PS. A new era in shooting has started for me

Day 3 Red Series
Tom decided we should have an RGB Series so this week we are starting with red.
I had this clown nose at my desk and I put it in my bag on my way out of the office asked people to wear it and make faces. Everyone had a great thing to add but I can only choose one.
I went out to dinner with the boyz and Jesse has become a new member, there is an application and a fee, not many can join
Jesse is a cool guy with a really silly personality so after a discussion and a missed opportunity of taking a picture of a red headed girl, I asked him to wear the nose and 5 picture later this is what he gave me.
Now when you meet him you will understand why this is fitting. He is a funny guy.
The aesthetic reason I picked this picture was because I like the green eyes vs the red nose.

Tom decided we should have an RGB Series so this week we are starting with red.
I saw these devil horns hanging in my friend’s cube and I told him to wear them, that he could be in the running for picture of the day. Then I had the idea to ask Lisa and to wear them and she was nice enough to pose for me. This took about 30 seconds and about only 5 pictures.
I asked her to be angelic and this is the cuteness she produced
